5 Things To Do First When Planning A Wedding! Just engaged? This is a MUST read! Check out the full post and start your planning!

The ring is on! The champagne is popped and the celebration of an engagement has begun! After all the fun and excitement of becoming engaged slightly subsides, it will set in that you have to set a date and start the planning for that amazing wedding you have fantasized about!

Where do you start?

1. Magazines

Heading to the store? Why not pick yourself up a bridal magazine? It will start to get your mind on dresses, colors, decor, etc! Bonus: Pick one that is local/state-based so that you can also see some of the types of services and vendors in your area (plus discounts!).

2. Wedding Websites

Much like this fantastic wedding blog (The Friend of the Bride), there are numerous websites out there at the touch of a button. There are wedding sites dedicated to being frugal and saving on your wedding, vintage style, real weddings, and so much more! Some of our favorites that offer services like researching vendors & wedding services, inspiration, developing your own website and more include: WeddingWire, TheKnot, MyWedding, WeddingBee, and StyleMePretty.

3. Friends/Family

It certainly is nice to look to a sister, brother, mother, aunt or friend who has recently been through the wedding planning journey! Seek out the advice of those close to you as they have either been through the planning process or have been to enough weddings to offer priceless advice! Finding the perfect locations/venue, dj/band, cake designer and more can easily be achieved when talking with your loved ones and hearing their recommendations. It can certainly narrow down the long list of options and a good (or bad) recommendation can make your search a whole lot easier!

4. Bridal Shows

Who doesn’t love a bridal show when you are the bride?!? Pampering, taste-testing, discounts, and more are the perfect way to begin your planning adventure. Plus, you will see 50+ vendors in one location! Discuss your Pinterest board ideas and see if these vendors are going to be a match in making your vision come to life!

5. Planner/Coordinator

Some brides prefer to have someone else handle the details, stress, and overwhelming search for the perfect vendors. If you are one of these brides, no shame there at all; that is what they are there for! With the right planner, you will get the wedding of your dreams (and without all the hassle!). Find your perfect planner (first!) and let her (or him) work their magic!
