50 Super Important Wedding Planning Tips! This was essential - blew my mind!Planning Your Wedding? 50 Super Important Wedding Planning Tips!

Planning your own wedding certainly is stressful and time-consuming. It also amazing and wonderful! These very 50 helpful tips will get you on the right track and headed toward marital bliss!

  1. Use online wedding resources – The Knot, WeddingWire, Style Me Pretty, etc.

  2. Ask friends for referrals

  3. Check out the reviews of vendors to help narrow down your selection

  4. Ask all the appropriate questions when booking venue, vendors, etc.

  5. Create a Pinterest board that is huge! Then narrow it down as you develop your vision.

  6. Create a binder to keep you organized.

  7. Keep all contracts and receipts of payment.

  8. Visit multiple vendors to make sure you are getting everything you want and for the best price.

  9. Negotiate pricing – find others who have better deals and see if your preferred vendor will match.

  10. The size of your wedding will determine a lot of things. Make a list of who you want to invite and stick to it or downsize if necessary.

  11. Plan a budget – a realistic one! Pick the top things you each want and work from there.

  12. Hire a day of coordination planner to make sure all your hard work of planning goes perfectly on your special day – plus, it eliminates stress!

  13. Create a free wedding website for your guests to visit.

  14. Reserve hotel room blocks early.

  15. Print off many wedding checklists that you find on wedding websites, on Pinterest, etc. (like 3) and then make sure all items checked off according to them.

  16. Use online resources for free seating arrangement software – WeddingWire, All Seated, etc.

  17. Buy a wedding magazine – local is best.

  18. Go to bridal shows (yes, multiple) – great giveaways and excellent discounts.

  19. Check FB groups and wedding resale events for items you may need.

  20. Ask for RSVPs to be returned at least a month before your wedding (wedding professionals will have deadlines for guest counts a few weeks out).

  21. Do not try out Pinterest DIYs if you are not extremely crafty – a wedding is not the time to throw something together. Get a second opinion if you create something to make sure it is awesome.

  22. Provide timelines for the week of the wedding for your family and wedding party. Allocate last minute pickups and tasks where needed.

  23. Try to complete each task on wedding checklists early. There will always be last minute things at the end – help yourself out and alleviate some stress.

  24. Ask your family to help with who to invite, as well as the collection of rsvps and the seating chart.

  25. Photography is highly important – it will be your memory of everything that went on that special day! Spend as much as your budget allows on that.

  26. Recruit your bridesmaids to help out with the favors.

  27. Be sure to get your marriage license! Depending on the state and county, each have their own rules so look into this a few months before your wedding (at least).

  28. Create a HashTag so you can collect some fun photos from guests – WeddingWire has a generator.

  29. Don’t forget to book your rehearsal dinner location early on – places book up!

  30. Save yourself some time and complete registries online.

  31. You can’t please everyone so focus on what is important to you!

  32. Do not worry about the weather once the date has been set – it is out of your control and everything will be fine through rain and snow or anything else.

  33. Check in with vendors – 6 months before and 3 months before. Just a quick email to double check or ask any remaining questions is fine.

  34. Meet all deadlines! Payment deadlines, guest count deadlines, etc. – All are very important for everyone and could save you late fees.

  35. Don’t forget about escort/seating/placement cards! I’ve seen this happen – and super stressful. The cards determine which meal your guests have selected (if seated dinner) and helps limit your tables and keep things organized. Unfortunately, this may one of your last projects to tackle but do not forget.

  36. Come up with a do not play list for the DJ.

  37. Set up an email just for wedding planning.

  38. Do not compare your wedding to Pinterest pictures or anyone else’s wedding. It will be amazing, even if you don’t spend 100k on it!

  39. Pick a few ways to personalize your wedding and make it your own (favors, cake topper, memory table, signature drinks, are all great little ways).

  40. Don’t be afraid to ask for the extras – whether it be extra floral, extra appetizer, extra lighting… The worse a vendor can say is no… but you might get a yes!

  41. If you are writing your vows, get them all written at least three months before your special day so there is no stress!

  42. Bundle services when you can – photographer and videographer. Centerpieces and floral for the ceremony and bouquets…etc.

  43. Trust your vendors! You put the work in to find them and finalize details; now trust that they will make your vision come to life.

  44. Take time for yourself – enjoy a bridal shower, the bachelorette party, a spa day, a test makeup and hair day, and anything else that will keep you happy and relaxed.

  45. Bridesmaids are your special crew. Be sure to treat them as you would like to be treated!

  46. Remember everything will not be perfect – it may come close but the wedding is not about perfection.

  47. Keep you and your groom in mind. Every detail and unique feature and all the other “stuff” does not matter to anyone. Your guests are there to see the love and enjoy a nice meal and a night out. That is all!

  48. Take one thing at a time. Prioritize what is most important.

  49. Cherish every moment leading up to the wedding. Let go of stress, and embrace each other and this special time together.

  50. Enjoy the planning! This is one of the few times in your life where it will be ALL about you;  all the fun details. About your engagement, your dress, your colors. Enjoy every moment!
