DIY Centerpiece: Orchid Extravaganza with Mint Accents
Items needed to create this centerpiece:
White orchid stems (10)
Mint mini orchid stem (1)
White hydrangea bush
White rose bush
Styrofoam ball (cut in half)
20 inch by 4 inch cylinder vase
Gold and silver bling ribbon wrap
Navy blue ribbon
Dashes Oasis Adhesive
Prep-work for the top part of the centerpiece is below: Cut the styrofoam ball in half. Cut stems of white orchids down to use in centerpiece. Cut the mint mini orchid stem into about 4-5 different long pieces to use in centerpiece. Cut the white hydrangeas so that a 3 inch stem is available to use. Cut the roses so a 3 inch stem is available to use in the top part of the centerpiece.
For this centerpiece, we used many layers of ribbon to include all colors desired for the centerpiece. The largest is the gold bling (4 inch), then navy ribbon (2.5 inch), then Mint/aqua ribbon (1.5 inch), and lastly, silver bling ribbon (5 rows – 1 inch). Attach using dash adhesives. Add dazzler rocks to vase.
Start by adding 4 of the hydrangea bushes to the styrofoam ball (half). I add one in the top/middle and then three equally apart around the lower part of the styrofoam half. Then I fill in the half-styrofoam ball with roses so that all is covered.
Add the white orchid stems. The stems should have about 4 inches of stem to insert into the styrofoam ball half. Start by adding 4 stems coming out the top/center and curve the stems so cascades down the styrofoam half. Then add the last six orchid stems spaced equally apart about 2 inches from the bottom of the styrofoam half (curve these greatly to create the cascading look).
Add 4 long crystal strands (15 crystals per strand used in this centerpiece). Place the orchid flower top on top of vase. Attach crystals to white orchid stem using the metal circular clip (see photo).
Add in the mint mini orchid stems (or any color/flower you want). You should have 4-5 pieces to stick in different places in the styrofoam half.
Carefully, place the styrofoam/flower top centrally on top of the 20 inch vase. The ribbon will cover any stems that were pushed through the styrofoam half. The centerpiece is complete!
